Treefingers, aka Nick Pike, is a multi-instrumentalist from Warrington. He has in recent years he has found success with band The Streetlight and through playing guitar for Emma Wells, accompanying her on her UK tour. In recent years, feeling confident enough having gained a wealth of experience and inspiration, he has now ventured into being a singer/songwriter in his own right.

foundations is the name of Treefingers most recent release. The track's bare bones is a love ballad, unrequited love to be exact and as Treefingers sings his way through you get that emotion in spades through the use of vocal effects used to good effect.

Surprisingly, Treefingers includes a heavy beat and synth akin to that of Eurodance in the song interspaced throughout in contrast with a lightly spoken and softly played guitar. It's a striking contrast and it certainly makes the song interesting.

Overall, its a song with sad undertones sung to that of a lively beat up-tempo beat and synth. The mix of genres is novel and catches you off-guard. A part of me think's the song has an identity crisis. As a love ballad or techno dance track along the track would be so much better, but not sure it works when both are fused together. The other part of me thinks it's interesting enough of a song, a fusion of great lyrics full of emotion and angst and that too if given off in the heavy and raw synth. Could be that the mix of the two styles represent the mixed and conflicting emotions. It certainly gets you thinking. Give it a listen yourself below and let us know what you think.
