Single Review - Over U by The A.V. Club

Over U is the latest release from North West indie rock/pop band The A.V. Club. Having picked up steam in that metaphorical hype locomotive they have now stoked that furnace with this release which will hopefully see them on the line to a bigger future.

Track's intro is a calm one, with jangly-guitar and sound effects, but then 20 seconds in ramps up the tempo with a burst of everything as if it was the chorus, but then goes onto the verse. An interesting and unique structure, but not so strange to make you dislike it. It's pretty exciting to be honest. The chorus is drills the one line of lyrics into your head repeating them a few times. Again, they go against the norm by putting two choruses near the end of the track.

It's over before you know it. At a length of 2.27 the track manages to give us a non-typical song structure, gives us one of the best vocal performances from singer Callum Bate, a catchy chorus and a song full of emotional angst at being over someone who you've lost interest in. I love it. It leaves you wanting more. Hopefully, they'll release more further down the line.
