SINGLE REVIEW - Déjà Vega - Who We Are

Deja Vega are no strangers to up-tempo, raucous, foot-stomping, raw, angst-laden indie, most of their songs being just that. Their latest follows in line to their past releases and then some.

Who We Are incorporates from the off the bands signature relentless bass with added reverb and a tinny-ness giving it a almost mechanical sound, which grabs your attention straight-away.

The vocals come in and ride the wave of being sung softly and up to raw shouted raw vocals. Add in the mix the jangly effects-ridden guitar and cowbell and the song elevates to a belter of a song, which showcases them well recorded, but is best seen live for full impact of the energy, musical prowess and charisma on stage.

Overall, what the band give us here is sheer raw, focused indie rock full of angst and "umph". The band strive to be unlike any before them always pushing their music to the next level and you can really see it with each release. Who We Are is a up-beat marvel for indie rock and their energy on stage, while it's almost impossible to "bottle it" they have managed to here.
