REVIEW - Take a Hold by Hell Fire Jack

Hell Fire Jack describe themselves, and have been described as being, a pair of angry bastards, loud as hell with music described as brutal blues, raw and intense with fuzzed-up riffs, captivating rhythms and steely slide guitar. Definitely an interesting description, which makes me want to find out more.

The rock duo hail from Yorkshire and have been busy gigging since conception and their debut EP Chains and show no signs of stopping looking at their tour, which they are currently in the middle of.

From their debut EP Chains they have recently released a music video for their song Take a Hold. The song is a blues-heavy powerhouse of a song with raw guitar and pounding drums. The thing that sets Hell Fire Jack apart from other bands following the same route is the vocals which is reminiscent of the attitude, angst, quirkiness and unpredictability of Sex Pistols but adding a performance full of personality, confidence and dexterity. The energy doesn't relent as the songs progresses making it a firm live gig favourite. The song itself is not appreciated as much then when it sits in place on their EP amongst other songs which compliment it well.

Have a listen for yourself and let us know what you think.

Hell Fire Jack are a part of the line up this Saturday at The Salty Dog where they will be joining Faraday in supporting The Racket. Free entry all night. Starts around 7.30pm. See you there.
