Single Review - Out on a Limb by Peter J Riley

Peter J Riley is a singer/songwriter hailing from Liverpool. He is known more recently for being the front-man of Shamona a blues rock band with Andy O'Connor, Mathew Colfar. While still looking to gig and work with Shamona he's branched off to produce some solo music. He's known on the scene for having a Paul Roger-esque vocal style; gritty and full of power, experience and dexterity as well as being a great charismatic performer in his own regard.

His newly released track Out on a Limb showcases all of his great qualities as a musician in a bare-bones style performance, relying on acoustic guitar to guide him through with minimal accompanying organ and backing vocals. The song Peter has made here is a love note to his special someone. A note of thanks, wishes and hopes for their relationship. The chorus is as catchy as they get "give it up, let it out, don't keep it all in, get out on a limb". Listening closer, in the love note he is pleading to that special someone to take the leap with him and take their relationship to the next level and to be their better-selves.

Overall, the track showcases Peter's trademark powerful vocals, but also lends an ear to his softer vocals, which adds a sense of passion to the love song he's produced here. Like his spiritual predecessors, The Beatles who wrote tons about Love, Peter has taken that muse and produced something special, a catchy, passionate, up-tempo track. I love it and would love to hear everyone else's take on it. I'm eager to hear any future releases from Peter in the future. Bring it on!
